Bizarre, Stupefying, Amazing & Cool Things

Moochly reviews the strangest corners of the internet with a completely straight face. Absurd subjects, handled with the gravity of a consumer testing lab. Announcing the joke would spoil it, so we never do.

A short history

Two publishing runs, eleven years apart.

The site went up in 2014. The oldest articles still standing are from February 2015, and one of them was a list of the ten weirdest LEGO sets that went out on a Wednesday, got no promotion whatsoever, and then spent the next decade quietly collecting 133,499 readers while nobody was watching. Thirty-six pieces came out of that first run. They are all still here, still carrying their original 2015 dates, at their original addresses.

Then Moochly stopped. For roughly ten years the archive sat there being read by strangers who arrived from search engines, found something odd, and left again. Nobody added anything. The site kept working anyway, which says something either about the durability of good weirdness or about how rarely anyone checks a hobby project.

In 2026 the whole thing was rebuilt from the ground up and moved off WordPress. Not one legacy URL changed, because a decade of inbound links outranks any tidy restructuring idea. Publishing started again, and several of the new pieces are direct sequels to old ones written eleven years earlier. The 2015 article about the Apple Watch making you uncool now has a smart glasses follow-up. Google’s Deep Dream got a successor about AI slop. The zombie games round-up finally received its 2026 edition, slightly late.

That continuity is the part we are actually proud of. Plenty of sites can publish a listicle about weird products. Very few can point at the 2015 version of the same listicle and mean it.

What we cover

Six sections, one editorial standard.

How this place works

The rules we hold ourselves to, written down.

The deadpan is the format. Everything gets reviewed as though it deserves the treatment, whether that is a $400 juicer or a film in which clip-art eagles attack a petrol station. The snark teases and never bites, and the whole site stays PG regardless of the subject matter.

Real pictures of real things. When we write about a product, the photograph is the actual listing image, downloaded and hosted here rather than hotlinked from someone else’s server. Where no photograph can exist, the artwork is made for the piece and given its own visual style, so the homepage reads as a magazine instead of one batch job.

Shopping links stay honest. Some links point at shops, and those earn a commission if you buy. They route through a redirect that marks them as sponsored, they never affect whether something gets covered, and the full arrangement is spelled out on the affiliate disclosure page. Nothing here is a paid placement. Things appear because they are strange.

New articles carry a byline you should know about. Milo Marsh is our editor-at-large and the masthead on everything published since the relaunch. Research and drafting are AI-assisted, then edited to a written house standard that covers voice, length, sourcing and images. The Notes section is the exception and is written entirely by hand.

About that one comment

In eleven years online, Moochly has received exactly one reader comment. It arrived in April 2015, from somebody called DJ, and it is still on the article it was left under. Comments are closed across the site now, which means the record is permanent. DJ, wherever you are, you remain undefeated.

If you have found something the internet needs to know about, the door is still open on our end.
